Darth Vader
As Skywalker he was a caring person, always ready to help his friends and family and was a loyal ally to have. One thing that survived in Vader was both his legendary short temper and his love of his love ones.
He's also believed to be the Jedi chosen one, a being who would bring balance to the force, well he succeeded in that mission frankly.
History:
Born on Tatooine in 41.9 BBY, Anakin Skywalker was born miraculously from his slave mother. At infancy he was given a force shroud by Darth Cardinal so only a worthy Jedi could sense him.
Around the age of nine he was sense by Qui Gon Jinn while he was on Tatooine with princess Padme, Obiwan Kenobi and Jar Jar Binks. He won his freedom from the Hutt's and was taken to Croissant. He was introduced to the council but was a t first denied indoctrination into the Jedi order.
He participated in a space battle by accident during the battle of Naboo when a starfighter he was hiding in took of into space. After the battle of Naboo he was taken in as a Padawan for the newly knighted Obiwan Kenobi.
For the next 10 years he trained as a Padawan, becoming the top of his classes, after an assassination attempt on Padme he was put in charge of protecting her, going on a journey which resulted in the pair falling in love with one another.
He the sense his mother was in danger so he went to Tatooine, where he learned that the Tusken raiders captured her. He found her but it was to late to save her so in a fit of rage killed the tribes people.
He then went to save his master from Count Dooku, which he was captured and was almost executed if wasn't saved by the Jedi, which resulted the beginning of the clone wars with the battle of Geonosis.
During the early clone wars he become a Jedi knight, during the battle of Christophsis he received a Padawan called Ahsoka Tano, and though reluctant at first he accepted her as his Padawan and started training her.
After answering a distress call, Skywalker, Obi wan and Ahsoka went to Mortis by accident and ended up eventually getting the One’s killed, As well as meet The ancient Sith Lord Darth Cardinal(though after hearing cryptic explanation, they assumed he was a force ghost).
Two years into the Clone wars he went to find the kiros colonists who were captured by the Zygerrians, He infiltrated the palace where he was captured but escaped with his Padawan who eventually saved the colonists.
He was one of many to be visited by Darth Cardinal via a dream during Nihilus night, who helped him consul his ability to accept loss. None the less Anakin was getting worried about losing his wife.
He was involved with the investigation of the Jedi temple bombing which he and Ahsoka managed to capture Letta Turmord, who framed him for Letta Turmord death but was cleared by the alligations by the efforts of Ahsoka, and was happy of her premotion.
A few months later he was meant to go to Mandalore to help captured Maul but instead was call to save the chancellor from Grievous instead, giving the assignment to capture Maul to his former Padawan Ahsoka instead.
He saved the chancellor, which in the process he slayed the Count Dooku under Palpatine encouragement. He was put on the Jedi council but wasn't granted the rank of master and was tasked on spying on Palpatine.
eventually Palpatine was able to completely lure Anakin to the dark side when Windu tried to kill Palpatine and was dubbed Darth Vader. He lead the 501st legion in operation nightfall during order 66.
He then went to Mustafar to deal with the separatists. Padme followed him, and Obiwan hitched a ride as well. When he saw Kenobi he choked Padme and battled Kenobi but was fatally wounded and was left to die.
Sidious saved his life and put him in a Bacta tank and turned him into a cyborg, ashamed of his loss and in grief of the loss of his wife he decided to stay a Sith lord, as he has no other reason to live anymore.
For the next few years he went around hunting his former brothers and sisters Jedi along with the Inquisitors, who he was in charge of. He was still sad about Padme death and still remembered her.
He would find the mask of Darth Momin, who possessed a trooper and offered to make Vader a castle on the Planet Mustafar. He allowed him to build him a castle but he was betrayed by Momin.
Momin used a dark side ritual to open a rift in the cosmic force, reviving his old body before fighting Vader. Though Vader won the fight and killed Momin the portal was destroyed so he couldn't investigate the portal himself.
Vader would face another Sith lord again, this time in the form of self-proclaimed Dark lord of the Sith Darth Olmec, Who tried to kill him and Sidious. He killed him to but he was starting to hate Darth Sidious.
At some point he went to Malachor II to find a Holocron, but was stopped by Darth Maul who distracted him enough to let the others escape. He didn't get to capture Maul since he escaped, but seeing Ahsoka made him a bit remorseful.
Three years later he captured Princess Leia, who was believed to have the Deathstar plans and tortured her on the Death Star, as well as blowing up Alderaan. She fought Obiwan Kenobi for the last time during the rescue for Leia.
During the battle of Yavin he tried to shoot down Luke but Luke was saved by Han solo and he lost the fight. For the next three years he persistently tried to hunt down the Rebels, during that point he found out Luke was his son, and plan to persuade him to the Dark side.
After the humiliating battle he went back to his home on Mustafar but founded out that Rebels, especially Jedi, stole both Vital Info on the empire and his old Padawan's Lightsaber Shoto, something which made him even more furious.
He went to Hoth as the Imperials sieged the Rebel base, He then made a plan to capture Luke on Cloud City using carbonite and though he captured his friends he failed to do the same to Luke.
They battled on Cloud city, where Vader reviled to Luke that Vader was his father, and was surprised when Luke dropped do his doom but was relieved that he survived the fall and was rescued.
He then meet Luke again after a year, Luke willingly went with him to the Death Star II were they battled again, Luke won the fight after Vader learned that Leia was his daughter but Luke refused to kill him.
The emperor started electrocuting Luke in front of him, and in an act of fatherhood saved Luke at the cost of his life by throwing Palpatine down the reactor core. He later died and was cremated on Endor.
Legacy:
Darth Vader would be remembered as one of the most feared beings within the galactic empire, hated by many but loved by few. Darth Vader would be honoured by the Acolytes of the beyond, who considered him the most powerful Sith to exist.
His grandson Kylo Ren was inspired by his dark side nature, and when he fell to the Dark side he wanted to be like Vader as much as possible. Also Darth Vader being Leia's true father ruined her political career, resulting her dedicating her life to the resistance and Jedi more.
His cremated remains would be found and was taken to the tomb on Korraban by loyal dark Jedi to Vader and buried in a tomb made by Sidious. His Skull would be taken by Kylo Ren later, and considered it a powerful dark side artefact.

He's based on the Canon character of the same name
The main story of Padawan to Knight is more or less a "what if Anakin was framed" while Ahsoka nightmare is (a well hated) "what if Ahsoka was found guilty" scenario.
When Vader in a Bacta tank, this is the time where Vader most relax and lazy, unless his onw life is at risk he's not in a mood to fight.
